Horticulture

Welcome to Horticulture where pupils have the opportunity to learn and develop new skills which are perfectly suited to the workplace.  Throughout the course pupils will complete 12 tasks.  These include looking after an outdoor area, growing flowers and vegetables from seed, planting hanging baskets, organising a plant sale of their home-grown produce and creating a floral display. 

Structure of the Course:

Unit 1: Caring for Plants and Flowers

Portfolio based evidence and Practical hands-on activities   (50%)

Unit 2: Growing Plants in a sustainable way

Portfolio based evidence and Practical hands-on activities   (50%)

Unit 1 and Unit 2 are both completed in one year.

This can be either during Year 11 or Year 12 depending on the timetable.

This is an excellent, practical based course which suits pupils who enjoy being actively involved in their learning. It allows pupils to gain amazing insight into the workplace.
